Witness Accounts Sought in Downtown Lawrence Shooting
LAWRENCE -- Police are urging witnesses to come forward with anything they might have to help find out what happened before, during, and after a shooting that killed three people and injured two others.
 
 
 
 
 
According to officials with the Lawrence Police Department, multiple gunshots were heard near 11th and Massachusetts Street in downtown Lawrence at about 1:39am Sunday, October 1. Officers came on scene to a large crowd, and five people hit by gunfire. According to police officials, three of the shooting victims have died: 22 year-old Leah Elizabeth Brown of Shawnee, KS; 20 year-old Colwin Lynn Henderson of Topeka; 24 year-old Tremel Dupree Dean of Topeka. Two other shooting victims were taken to a hospital for their injuries.
 
No arrests have been made in this ongoing investigation. Police say they believe the shooting stemmed from a fight that happened in the area of 11th and Massachusetts. They are asking anyone who may have witnessed any fights in the area prior to the shooting, or may have captured any video relating to the incident, to contact the police department.
