-- As severe weather season approaches, Douglas County prepares a day of in-depth weather talks, an evening refresher on Kansas weather, and a week of specific threats to get ready for.
Severe Weather Awareness Week is being recognized by Douglas County and the State of Kansas March 6-10, 2017. A statewide tornado drill is scheduled for Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10am.
The National Weather Service is also sending its meteorologists out into the community in March, to give Weather 101 presentations and storm information to the public. The Lawrence Weather 101 is scheduled for Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 7pm-8:30pm, at the Lawrence Public Library. It is free and open to the public.
For more in-depth weather discussions, an annual symposium returns to Lawrence, congregating weather experts and professionals both public and private. KLWN's John Flood spoke with Jillian Rodrigue, Assistant Director for Douglas County Emergency Mangagement, about the 17th Annual Severe Weather Symposium coming to Lawrence.
