-- Representative Tom Sloan has been chosen to lead the House Committee on Government, Technology, and Security.
With a new session of the Kansas Legislature set to begin January 8, 2018, new committee assignments are being announced.
Kansas State Representative Tom Sloan (R-45th) has been appointed chairman of the House Committee on Government, Technology and Security.
In a released statement, Sloan said he is excited to begin work on this committee, and will look at ways to improve cybersecurity efforts to protect taxpayer data.
"I look forward to working with my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to craft policy that will best position Kansas to thrive in the everchanging digital age," Sloan said in his statement.
In addition to this new committee assignment, Rep. Sloan also chairs the House Committee on Water and Environment, and the 2017 Special Committee on Natural Resources. He also serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, and the House Committee on Agriculture and Natural Resources Budget.
Sloan represents the 45th District in western Douglas County, which includes parts of west Lawrence, Lecompton, Clinton, and Kanawaka, along with parts of Marion, Palmyra, Wakarusa, and Willow Springs.
