Mid-Mornings with Eric Holcomb is produced in-house and airs live every weekday from 9am-12pm. In addition to his regular news and community content each week, Eric produces a 1-hour show dedicated to local historic preservation (Timeline Radio with Clenece Hills); a 1-hour show dedicated to economic development in Lawrence (Cadre Lawrence); a 1-hour show dedicated to small businesses in Lawrence (Lawrence Business Magazine). He also welcomes in weekly guests from several city and county entities: The County Extension Office comes in each week with agent updates on 4H youth development, nutrition, and food sustainability; the City of Lawrence comes in each week with public meeting notices, public transit information, and utility information; the Lawrence Parks and Recreation Department comes in each week with information on fitness, activity, and nutrition education opportunities.
For local perspective and public resources on national headlines, Eric utilizes the University of Kansas and its professors for local expert analysis and credible access to timely topics. Examples include: journalism professor Chuck Marsh on news ethics, following the suspension of Brian Williams on NBC; Cynthia Taylor, researcher on severe weather phobias, with insight on psychological and physiological reactions to severe weather; Alesha Doan, associate professor of political science and chair of the Department of Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies, who partnered to create Project Diane, a study into gender integration within the military.
